Autonomous Lidar-Based Monitoring of Coastal Lagoon Entrances

چکیده

Intermittently closed and open lakes or Lagoons (ICOLLs) are characterised by entrance barriers that form break down due to the action of wind, waves currents until ocean-lagoon exchange becomes discontinuous. Entrance closure raises a variety management issues regulated monitoring. In this paper, those investigated, an automated sensor solution is proposed. Based upon static Lidar paired with edge computing device. This solar-powered remote sensing device provides efficient way automatically survey lagoon estimate berm profile. Additionally, it estimates dry notch location its height, critical factors in entrances. Generated data provide valuable insights into landscape evolution behaviour during natural mechanical breach events.

Low Cost UAV-based Remote Sensing for Autonomous Wildlife Monitoring

In recent years, developments in unmanned aerial vehicles, lightweight on-board computers, and low-cost thermal imaging sensors offer a new opportunity for wildlife monitoring. In contrast with traditional methods now surveying endangered species to obtain population and location has become more cost-effective and least time-consuming. In this paper, a low-cost UAV-based remote sensing platform...

Coastal Dynamics 2013 Paper No. LIDAR DATA FOR CLASSIFICATION AND SCIENTIFIC MONITORING IN COASTAL AREAS

In this paper we propose a method for the classification and mapping of habitats in Wadden Sea areas from lidar data. For this task, we derive crucial features from the 3D point cloud based on the geometry and intensity of the backscatter. The characteristics of three different classes (water, mudflat, mussel bed) are learned in a training step of a supervised classification approach. For this ...

Monitoring of water pollution and aquatic plants in the coastal lagoon environments using ALOS data

Our research goal is to monitor the water pollution and aquatic plants in the coastal lagoon environments using satellite data. This time, our past activities concerning some satellite study project and the preliminary result of ALOS/AVNIR-2 analysis in coastal lagoon such as Lakes Shinji and Nakaumi are introduced.

Monitoring of oxygen condition in the Ria Formosa coastal lagoon, Portugal.

Dissolved oxygen (DO) is one of the most important environmental variables of water quality, especially for marine life. Consequently, oxygen is one of the Chemical Quality Elements required for the implementation of European Union Water Framework Directive. This study uses the example of the Ria Formosa, a meso-tidal lagoon on the south coast of Portugal to demonstrate how monitoring of water ...
